Evelyn Bell died in faith on July 20, joining her Savoir Jesus Christ in paradise, confident in the assurance of eternal life for those belonging to Him. She was born March 6, 1937 in Jordan Township, Green County to Alfred and Theresa (Amelong) Gordee. She attended Mills school, graduated from South Wayne high School and Green County Teacher’s College. She taught school in Green County until her marriage to Everett Bell on Feb 14, 1960. She believed that her most importation vocation was as a wife/mother/grandmother and loved reading to/with and playing games with her children/grandchildren. In addition to working at home as a wife and mother/grandmother, she worked as a substitute teacher for many years, worked at Bell Machine and Welding and then was owner for a time after her husband’s death. 

Survivors are her five children; Paul (Christina) of Mt. Horeb, WI, Theresa (Jim) Hammer of Darlington, WI, David (Karla) of Plymouth, Michigan, Daryl (Elizabeth) of Neenah, WI and Mark (Sara) of Ridgefield, WA. Grandchildren: Valerie (Jamie) Bryson, Stephanie (Connor) Knellwolf, Daniel (Rilee) Hammer, Jacob Hammer, Kyle (Kayla) Bell, Ryan, Nathan, Isaac, Charlotte, Lydia, Joshua, Matthew and Diane Bell. Two great-granddaughters: Leighton Bryson, Isla Knellwolf and five great grandsons: James Bryson, Everett and Malcolm Hammer, Asher Knellwolf and Brooks Bell. One sister-in-law, Lois Gordee of Monroe and brother-in-law Howard Hodel of Verona. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett in 1995, her mother, Theresa in 1947 and father, Alfred in 1960, three brothers Merlyn (Gloria) in 2009, James (Jeraldine) in 2016 and Richard in 2003 and her sister Jean Hodel in June 2019.  Her father-in-law Dallas in 1966 and her mother-in-law Estella in 1980.

She was a member of Apostle’s Lutheran church in Platteville where she was an organist and financial secretary.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Apostle’s Lutheran Church (1398 Old Lancaster Rd, Platteville, WI 53818) with Rev. Randall Poppe officiating. A visitation will be held Saturday, July 24, 2021 from 9:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at the church. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery in Darlington, WI.
