Evelyn A. Krattiger, age 97 of Monroe, died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, September 10, 2019. She was born on March 8, 1922 in Monroe at Deaconess Hospital. She was christened Evelyn Anna Elizabeth Hartwig, after her grandmothers. She was the daughter of Samuel J. and Ida E. (Pfund) Hartwig. Evelyn was baptized, confirmed and married at St. John’s United Church of Christ; she was confirmed in 1937 by Pastor Schuh. She attended Pleasant Valley rural school, graduated from Monroe High School in 1940. She took short business courses at Browns Business College in Freeport. Evelyn married John A. Krattiger on August 21, 1940 at St. Johns United Church of Christ. She served on church council, worship committee, Esther circle, woman’s guild, parish visitors, and secured greeters for 32 years.
She is survived by her children: Ken (Linda) of Birchwood, WI, Larry of Tomah, WI, David (Sue) of Watertown, WI, Dan (Deb) of Monroe, and Gregg (Colleen) of McFarland, WI; grandchildren: Kyle, Kristin, Tyler, David, Nick, Aaron, Angela, Ryan and Karissa; great grandchildren: Sofie, Lucy, Rhys, Madeleine, Conner, Jared, Evelyn, Kylie, Annaliese, Eloise, Isaiah, Elliott and Milo. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; son, Mark; and sister, Alberta Davis.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, September 16, 2019 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Monroe, with Reverend Todd Hackman officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery. A visitation will be held Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Evelyn’s name to St. John’s United Church of Christ or Monroe Clinic Hospice.
