Dorothy C. Hubner, age 94 of Gratiot, WI passed away Friday, January 31, 2020, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Monroe, WI. She was born September 22, 1925 in Gratiot, WI the daughter of Ralph W. “Butch” and Catherine (Saterlee) Munger. She graduated from Gratiot High school in 1944. She was united in marriage to Norman Hubner on December 27, 1945 at the Luke Field Chapple in Phoenix, AZ. Dorothy saw much of the United States as Norman was in the United States Air Force. They were stationed throughout the years at: Arizona, Louisiana, Alaska, Texas, Mississippi, Montana, North Dakota, and Missouri and overseas in Germany. While stationed in Germany Dorothy and her family visited much of Europe, but all of all places she had visited she enjoyed Paris the most. Later Dorothy moved back to Gratiot with her sons and went on to attend the University of Wisconsin Platteville and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. Dorothy taught second and third grade in Gratiot for 30 years where she made an impact on many of the young children’s lives.
Dorothy is survived by her son: Steve (Mary Zimmerman) Hubner of Gratiot/Darlington, WI; five grandchildren: Cary (Sunny) Hubner of Geneseo, Il, Jessica (Eric) Welsh of Bettendorf, IA, Casey (Rachel Grimm) Hubner of Bend, OR, Derek Hubner of Neenah, WI and Nichole (Shaun) Brenton of Cheshire, CT ; great-grandchildren: Mason Hubner, Sienna and Ava Brenton, Hayes and Nina Hubner, and baby Welsh on the way; one brother: Ralph (Maurene) Munger of Eau Claire, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Norman in 1975; one son: Nick Hubner in 1994; and one brother Jack Munger.
Dorothy was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Gratiot. She enjoyed golfing, traveling when she was young, gardening, reading and spending time with her family. Dorothy will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.
A private family service will be held for Dorothy at a later date. Burial will be in the Gratiot Catholic Cemetery. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com
