Doris E. Johnson, age 92 of Wiota, WI passed away Friday, January 4, 2019 at Azura Memory Care in Monroe. She was born November 14, 1926 in Northwood, IA the daughter of Leonard and Mabel (Hall) Spilde. Doris graduated from Northwood High School in 1944 and later from Hamilton School of Business in Mason City, IA. She was united in marriage to Harry E. Johnson on June 12, 1954 at First Lutheran Church in Northwood. Doris grew up in Northwood and did secretarial work for a mortgage company in Mason City. Following her marriage to Harry, they moved to Beloit, WI for a short time before moving to the Johnson Family Farm in Wiota Township where she and Harry farmed together. After leaving the farm Doris built a home in Wiota that she helped design.

Doris is survived by her children: Vicki (Steven) Witherspoon of Oregon, WI; Paul Johnson of Gratiot, WI and two grandchildren: Steven (Darcy) Witherspoon of Lodi, WI and Kimberly (Carey) Wentela of Oregon; three great-grandchildren: Camille and Cooper Witherspoon, and Aiden Wentela; and one sister: Evelyn Chevalier of Burlington, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harry on April 2, 1990 and a brother-in-law: Clarence Chevalier

Doris was a member of Wiota Lutheran Church, its Women of the ELCA where she held different offices, was a past Church Council member, and served as the church secretary for over 30 years. She also taught Sunday school for many years and was part of the Ladies Quilting group for Lutheran World Relief. Doris cherished the time she spent with her family and attending all of their different activities. She enjoyed taking care of her beloved rose bushes, baking pies, and traveling all around the United States, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. Doris will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Wiota Lutheran Church, 6682 State Road 78, South Wayne, WI 53587, with Rev. Traci Maass officiating. Burial will be in West Wiota Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday, January 7, 2019 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Wiota Lutheran Church and on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at the church.
