Dennis George Alexander
Dennis George Alexander

Dennis George Alexander, age 61 of Albany, passed away Friday, July 9, 2021 at his home. He was born on August 19, 1959 in Janesville, the son of Robert C and Gloria (Drew) Alexander. He attended Albany Schools, receiving his HSED in 1980. Dennis worked at Ogden Manufacturing in Albany and Monroe Cheese Corp in Monticello.

Dennis was born with medical conditions that made the doctors believe he would not live past 1 day old. On that day, he was baptized at the hospital in case his life was cut short, however that was not the case. On March 17, 1980 he had a kidney transplant at UW Hospital and his donor was his older brother, Timothy. He defied the odds and never gave up even though many days of his life were spent in and out of hospitals. Denny always referred to UW Hospital as his “second home”. He always made everyone around him laugh by telling jokes and stories, especially the doctors and nurses that took care of him.

Dennis enjoyed fishing in the Sugar River, playing video games, building model cars and tinkering with motors. His best times were hanging with his friends and family, especially his nieces and nephews. He always looked forward to the road trips to see family in Kentucky and Georgia. Dennis truly enjoyed living life to the fullest.

Dennis is survived by his siblings; brothers, Michael (Shirley) Alexander, Robert A (Linda) Alexander, Thomas Alexander and Theodore Alexander; sister, Tammy (Timothy) Buehler. As well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sheryl Whitehead in 2002; brothers, Patrick in 1976 and Timothy in 2009; niece, Sherri in infancy; dogs, Abby and Sable.

A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family at: shriner111.com. Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home is serving the family.

Farewell Dear Brother, until we meet again.
