Dennis B. Swiggum, age 78 of Monroe, died on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. Dennis was born on November 13, 1942 in Monroe, the son of Virgil and Ruth (Butler) Swiggum. He graduated from South Wayne High School in 1960 and was united in marriage to Jane LaBorde on June 2, 1963 at the West Wiota Lutheran Church. Dennis was employed as a truck driver for many years at Monroe Cheese Corp and Monroe Truck Equipment before retiring. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, enjoyed playing cards, and in his younger years kept active playing slow pitch. He enjoyed traveling to watch his children’s and grandchildren’s activities. Dennis was also an avid Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers, and Milwaukee Brewers fan.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jane Swiggum of Monroe; three children, Eric (Christine) Swiggum of Mt. Horeb, Wendy (Mark) Horbinski of Necedah, Jill (Kirk) Leitzen of Brodhead; five grandchildren, Maddie and Sydnee Swiggum, Haley, Tripp, and Trey Horbinski; his brother, Neil Swiggum; sister-in-law, Marcia Swiggum; and a nephew, Torry Swiggum, all of Wiota.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gary Swiggum; sister, Carla Rundle; brother-in-law Phillip Rundle; and in-laws, John and Eileen LaBorde.
Private family memorial services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, Monroe, with Pastor John Tabaka officiating. Inurnment will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Juda.
