Deanna Joyce Wright
Deanna Joyce Wright

Deanna Joyce Wright passed away on December 18, 2024, from fungal pneumonia. Deanna became very ill with complications related to an underlying lupus diagnosis at the young age of 16. From that age on, she would endure multiple health issues, always battling the severity of her illnesses with admirable strength! Her complicated health history included two kidney transplants from two brothers, lymphoma, heart surgery, multiple pneumonias and other infections.  Deanna never let her health get in the way of accomplishing her goals in life.

Deanna was a proud and dedicated registered nurse who worked for many years at the Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County. There she was a valued employee and friend to all who knew her. Her accomplishments throughout her healthcare career were many and all very important to her. She was proud of the hospital’s growth over the past few years and looked forward to the new facility for the community.

Deanna loved her country home, enjoyed her flowers, decorating and working in the yard, playing with and curling up with her “pups”, spending time with friends, and a great love of riding her Ranger with groups of other riders.

Deanna was first married to Troy Cheeney and together they raised a son, Austin. Deanna later married David Wright on July 16, 2010. Deanna was proud of her two grandchildren, Olivia and Owen Cheeney. Deanna also considered herself a “dog mom”. She loved her three Pomeranian dogs- Bo, Evie, and Pepper.

Deanna is survived by her husband David; son Austin (Tina) Cheeney; grandchildren Olivia and Owen; mother E. Joyce Zeal; two sisters Lin Block of Monroe and Barb (Russell) Wirth of Davis; four living brothers- Ron (Lorie) Zeal of Juda, Tom (Chris) Zeal of Monticello, Sam (Jane) Zeal of Monroe, Rich Zeal of Gratiot and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father Allen Zeal, brother Donald Zeal, brother-in-law Russel Block and sister-in-law Lynn Zeal.

Rest in peace our dear Deanna. We all loved you so much, admired you, and will miss you so deeply.

Celebration of life to be held at a later date.
