David “Moz” Stauffacher

David “Moz” Stauffacher, age 76, of Monroe passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024 at his home.  He was born on July 26, 1947 the son of Morris and Beverly (Caylor) Stauffacher.  A proud graduate of Monroe High School in 1965, David went on to further his education at Milwaukee Technical College and the University of Colorado. His pursuit of knowledge culminated in earning a Master’s in Software Engineering from National University.  Dave married Shirley Langford on November 24, 2006 in Ramona, CA.

Dave had a successful career at General Dynamics Data Systems Division San Diego, CA, where he retired as a respected Computer Scientist in 2010. He previously worked as a software engineer where he worked internationally for Lloyds Bank of London, Canberra Capital of Australia, and Aramco in Saudi Arabia.  He was a member and past president of the San Diego Triumph Sports Car Club and the Model T Ford Club of San Diego.  He was also a Member of the Model T Ford Club International Inc.  His hobbies included building models of historical wooden ships, woodworking, and was well read on the history of the Civil War, WWI, and WWII.  Dave also loved participating in car shows, domestic and international.

Dave is survived by his wife, Shirley of Monroe; brother, Dick Stauffacher of Monroe; sisters, Mary Lepper of Monroe, and Renata (Kent) Olsen of Brodhead; nephews, Brian (Amy) Brandt, Shawn Olsen, and Marshall (Erika) Olsen; and niece, Modesty Olsen.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Beverly. 

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church with Father Dave Carrano as celebrant. 

A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home.  Condolences may be sent to the family at: shriner111.com.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Dave’s name to St Victor’s Church or the SSM Health Hospice.
