David L. Deininger, age 80, of Monroe, died on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Monroe Health Services. David was born on November 26, 1943 in Monroe, the son of Lloyd and Leona (Nafzger) Deininger. David lived on the Deininger home farm in Jefferson Township his entire life. He was a 1962 graduate of Monroe High School and was united in marriage to Lorraine Hanson on March 25, 1972 at St. John’s United Church of Christ. He sold his cows in 2000 and raised beef cattle until retiring from farming in 2013. He worked for Kuhn Knight, Argyle Industries, and along with Lorraine was a custodian of St. John’s UCC for twelve years. In his high school years, David showed cattle through FFA and had a state champion Brown Swiss. Following his retirement, his main hobby was chip carving.

David is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lorraine Deininger; son, Adam Deininger, both of Monroe; brother, John (Mary) Deininger of Waunakee and their children, Emily (Gustavo) Lopez of Elgin, IL, John Michael (Erika) Deininger of Maryland, Julia (Ryan) DeLack of Wheaton, IL; his aunt, Dorothy Dyreson of Madison; sister-in-law, Barb Holverson of Fayetteville, GA and her son, Ryan (Lauren) Holverson of Temple, GA; and a brother-in-law, David Hanson of Monroe. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother-in-law, Daniel Hanson.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Monroe, with Rev. Todd Hackman officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will precede the service on April 19, beginning at 9:30 a.m. A memorial fund will be established in David’s name for St. John’s UCC.
