Colin Andrew Rabe, Jr., age 52, of Monroe, WI formerly of Salem, OR passed away on May 20, 2023 following a traffic accident. He was born the son of Colin and Cheryl Rabe, Sr. on September 5, 1970 in Salem, OR. He was a graduate of Lakeridge High School; he also attended the University of Oregon, Portland State University, and Chemeketa Community College. He was formerly married to Angela Smallish Garcia.
Colin worked for Colder’s Furniture in Milwaukee in recent years. He also worked for Steinhafels Furniture in their Milwaukee and Madison branches for close to ten years prior to that, and for The Roomstore branches in Salem, OR and Austin, TX. Colin’s home was located on 8 and ½ acres in Wisconsin dairy country. He loved the beauty of his land, where he could see luminous sunrises in the mornings and sunsets in the evenings. He especially enjoyed watching the various birds that visited there. Cardinals were among his favorites.
Colin is survived by one son, Joseph Colin Rabe; his mother, Cheryl Councill Randall; his father, Colin Andrew (Patti) Rabe, Sr.; sister, Jennifer Bessie (Timothy) Thieke; three step-sisters, Sarah Theresa (Nino) Cid, Carrie Ellen (Angela) Randall, and Melissa Krantz; nieces and nephews, Natalie, Charlotte, William, and Thomas Thieke, Benjamin Cid, Will and Ally Randall, and Makayla and Morgan Krantz. He is also survived by Great-Aunt, Marilyn Colclough; Aunts, Brenda Meyerhoefer, Jean Rabe, Ellen Councill and Carol McLaren; Uncles, Jeremiah (Mary) Councill and Geoff (Linda) Councill; Cousins, Gretchen Meyerhoefer, Chad (Mimi) Meyerhoefer, Brett (Marissa) Meyerhoefer, Janelle (Stuart) Allan, Reuben (Kim) Councill, Isaac Councill, Christopher (Karin) Rabe, Timothy Rabe, Geoff Rabe, Dani (Guy) Griffin, Nancy (Jeff) Cooksley, and Scott (Alicia) McLaren; and his former father-in-law, Paul Smallish and former mother-in-law, Carol Smallish.
He was preceded in death by his step-father, James Martin Randall; his uncles, George Baldwin Rabe, James Inslee Rabe, Jr., Delbert Meyerhoefer, Herbert George Councill III and Lew McLaren; Cousin, Cindy Rabe Kurpiewski; and his grandparents, The Reverend Herbert George Councill, Jr. and Ardayre Culpepper Councill and James Inslee and Bessie Baldwin Rabe, Sr.
Colin will be forever loved and his memory cherished by his family and friends. He was a bright light in all of our lives.
The family has been served by the Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home in Monroe, WI. Private family services will be held with burial at Belcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum in Salem, OR. Services will also be held at a later date in WI.
