Clareda Mae Neuenschwander, age 91, of Monroe passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at Aster Assisted Living.  She was born August 19, 1931 in Blanchardville the daughter of Virgil and Clarenda (Olson) Wenger.  She graduated from Monroe High School in 1949.  After high school she attended Green County Normal where she earned her two-year teaching certificate. She earned her Bachelors Degree in Education from UW-Platteville in 1969.  Several years later she returned to UW-Platteville to earn her Masters Degree.

Clareda married Virgil Neuenschwander on March 21, 1952 in Monroe.  She taught in many rural schools including Twin Grove and Hiawatha.  Then she taught at the Albany Public Schools for over 25 years, and ended her teaching career in the Argyle School District, retiring in 1999.  Clareda was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Women of the Moose for over 50 years, she held many positions within the Women of the Moose, including Sr. Regent of the Monroe Chapter 599. 

Clareda is survived by her children, Rosemary (Jerry) Hoover of Monroe, Jane Neuenschwander of Titusville, FL, Diana Long of Marengo, IL, and Daniel (Mary) Neuenschwander of Kutztown, PA; three grandchildren, Megan Long, David Neuenschwander, and Andrew Neuenschwander; sister-in-law, Glenda Wenger, Marilyn Neuenschwander, and Reva (Bob) Chambers; and several nieces and nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Virgil; son, David Neuenschwander; grandson, Matthew Hoover; brothers, Paul Wenger and Virgil Wenger Jr.; son-in-law, Randy Long; sister-in-law, Nellie Neuenschwander; brothers-in-law, Harold and Delbert Neuenschwander; parents-in-law, Albert and Rosa Neuenschwander; and niece, Lori Chambers.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday November 22, 2022 at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home at 11:00 AM with Pastor John Tabaka officiating.  Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

A visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Monday, November 21, 2022 at the funeral home, a Women of the Moose service will be held at 7:00 PM. Condolences may be sent to the family at: shriner111.com.  

Memorials are suggested to Grace Lutheran Church, Monroe Moose Lodge, or WI Alzheimer’s Association in Clareda’s name.
