Chester “Chet” Anton Newman, age 73, of Juda passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison.  He was born on October 1, 1950 the son of Robert and Orpha (Larson) Newman.  He graduated from Juda High School.  Chet married Donna Lehr on October 10, 1970, at the Zion Methodist Church in Juda.

Chet farmed on his family’s farm outside of Juda for over 30 years, he later worked at Kuhn Manufacturing for 17 years.  For the last few years, he was enjoying his retirement.  Chet was an avid hunter and trap shooter; he enjoyed watching the Badgers especially basketball and cheering for the Brewers.  His loyal dog Buddy was a constant companion, accompanying him to the farm and to appointments, he was always there.  Chet loved spending time in Hayward with Donna. 

Chet is survived by his wife, Donna; children, Traci (Nic Hitchins) Newman, Melissa (Brandon) Kilgore, and Robert “Bobby” (Kim) Newman; granddaughter, Eleanor Kilgore; mother-in-law, Helen Lehr; and his dog, Buddy. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carol Grendahl; and father-in-law, Ernest Lehr. 

A Celebration of Chet’s Life will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Nett’s Sports Bar in Monroe.  Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home is assisting the family.  Condolences may be sent to the family at: shriner111.com.
