Carroll T. Jacobson, age 86 of Darlington, WI passed away February 8, 2020. He was born July 5, 1933 in Blanchardville, WI the son of Clarence and Nellie (Kammerud) Jacobson. Carroll was united in marriage to Mary E. Thoni on January 16, 1954 in Mineral Point, WI. Shortly after they were married, Carroll was deployed by the Army to Germany for over a year. Upon his return, they lived in Fort Atkinson, WI. In 1957 they moved to Darlington where they have resided since. He and Mary enjoyed 65 years together before her passing on June 2, 2019.

Carroll is survived by his children: Lynn (Art) Rendón of Warren, IL, Daniel (Jennifer) Jacobson of Monroe, WI, David (Mary Ellen) Jacobson of Darlington, Tony (Carolyn) Jacobson of Janesville, WI, James (Carla) Jacobson of Darlington, John (Terri) Jacobson of Belmont, WI. Carroll is also survived by his grandchildren: Melanie (Matt) Stake, Becky (Kraig) McPeek, Jody (Doug) Gabel, Joe (Erin) Rendón, Austin Rendón, Sarah Jacobson, Tom (Heather) Jacobson, Laura Jacobson, Abby (Drew) Geissbuhler, Chris Rielly, Leanna (Josh) Corley, Elizabeth (Mike) Klotz, Emily (Jake Traeger, fiancé ) Jacobson, Andrew Jacobson, Meagan (Colin Novak, fiancé) Jacobson, Sara Jacobson, Zach Jacobson and Kylie Jacobson; and his great grandchildren: Maria and Mitchell Stake, Gabriella, Brady and Landon McPeek, Marcus Gabel, Isabel, Liam and Catie Rendón, Taylor Jacobson, Brady, Cooper and Alayna Jacobson, Hallie Geissbuhler, Lainey Corley and Cecelia and Welden Klotz. He is also survived by his sisters in law Delores Jacobson and LouAnne Thoni as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary, his parents, three brothers Leland Kammerud, Howard and Oliver Jacobson and three sisters; Elizabeth Grob, Marge Olson and Noda Schwartz.

Carroll was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Darlington, Bates-O’Brien-Howe-Wiegel-Roelli American Legion Post #214 of Darlington, and Knights of Columbus Council #1080. He also served on the Lamont Township board for a number of years and was involved in the formation of the Rural Medical Ambulance Service in Lafayette County. Carroll was known as a tireless worker and he spent over 40 years working with his brother Howard at Darlington Milling Company while also farming in Lamont Township for a number of these years. Family and Faith were the cornerstones of his life and he cherished the time he spent with his family creating memories. A day together with family meant prayer, laughter, music, playing ball and good conversation. These are the days that he and Mom enjoyed the most and that we will remember.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, February 13th at 11:30 A.M. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church (104 E. Harriet St., Darlington) with Rev. Joji Reddy officiating. Burial will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery where military graveside rites will be accorded by Bates-O’Brien-Howe-Wiegel-Roelli American Legion Post #214 of Darlington. A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 12, 2020 from 4 to 8 pm at Holy Rosary Catholic Church where a rosary will be prayed at 3:30 pm. A visitation will also be held Thursday from 10:15 to 11 am with a time of remembrance to follow. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family. Our Dad was a humble and hardworking man. He put his family and faith first and worked to instill his best qualities into his children. He will be greatly missed.
