Carol Jean (Evenson) Clark

Carol Jean (Evenson) Clark, age 90, of Monroe passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at her home. Carol was born January 28, 1930 in St. Paul, MN. She traveled with a nurse by train to Browntown, WI when she was 5 days old. She was adopted by Oscar and Gena (Anderson) Evenson of Browntown.

Carol attended Grove School in rural Browntown and Monroe High School. She was a life member of Jordan Lutheran Church, Browntown. She was a member of many organizations Women of the Moose, VFW, American Legion, Eagles Club, Fleet Reserve Association (F.R.A.) and Navy G.C.A. She was owner and operator of several restaurants and a supper club in Illinois. She retired in 1996 from OMC-Outbound Motor Corporation in Beloit, WI. She worked most recently at the American Legion from 2006 through 2019. She loved to quilt, sew, and garden. She was always sending care packages to military troops. 

Carol married Harland Voegeli in 1947 in Zwingli United Church of Christ in Monticello, WI. They had 9 children, 3 sons and 6 daughters. On August 14, 1982 she married Walter “Pat” Clark at Church by the side of the Road in Rockton, IL. 

She is survived by her children and step-children, David Voegeli, Diane (Ken) Roach, Sr., Donna (Michael) Saxby, Daryl (Cynthia) Voegeli, Cheryl (Jim) Watkins, Lillian Hunter, Charles (Linda) Voegeli, Lila (Mark) Svendsen, Sue (Tom) Licocci, and Patrick Clark. Her 26 grandchildren; over 40 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren were her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2004, her father in 1982, her mother in 1983, granddaughter, Corina; great-grandson, Cody; great-granddaughter, Natalie; and stepdaughter, Katie.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, February 24, 2020 at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home in Monroe, WI with Pastor Scott Cernek officiating. Burial will take place in Jordan Lutheran Cemetery in Browntown.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at the funeral home.

A memorial fund is being established in Carol’s name.
