Bertha Dora Tschanz age 100, of Monroe died on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at Aster Retirement Community. She was born on June 21, 1920 in Boyceville, Wisconsin, the daughter of Karl and Frieda (Bauman) Weber.

Bertha Weber and J.W. (Bill) Tschanz were united in marriage on May 13, 1943 at the Stational Hospital Chapel in Ft. Jackson South Carolina while Bill was serving in the United States Army.

The family farmed in Boyceville, then moved to Monroe in 1934 where Bert graduated from Monroe High School in 1939.

Bert worked in bookkeeping at the Lakeshire-Marty Company in Monroe followed by over 50 years in various departments with Swiss Colony.

She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ and proud to have completed 76 years of service with the American Legion Auxiliary.

Bert was an avid golfer and bowler and loved to walk all around town. She also loved to play bridge, euchre and shuffleboard. She was an avid sports fan, closely following the Packers, Brewers and Badgers.

She is survived by three sons, Bob (Marianne) Fuquay-Varina, of N.C., Dick (Deb) of Monroe and Bill (Rebecca) of Monroe; 6 grandchildren, Heidi (Jeff) Reichers, Jason (Grace) Tschanz, Sarah Niedermeier, Toni (Aaron) White, Shannon (Adam) Ricci and Garrett (Willa) Tschanz and 11 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Karl and Frieda; husband, William; brothers, Herman and Charles, sisters, Ann, Margaret and Clara and granddaughter, Samantha.

Private family graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery with Pastor Christie Mandas officiating.

Memorials are suggested in Bert’s name to the American Legion Zilmer Riley Post# 84; St. John’s United Church of Christ and Green Haven Family Advocates.

Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral home is serving the family.
