Anthony A. “Tony” Wand age 88 of Monroe, died Monday, March 4, 2019 at his home. Tony was born on April 10, 1930 in Gratiot, Wisconsin, the son of Joseph and Mary Wand. Following his graduation from high school, Tony attended Platteville State College and earned a degree in engineering from Bradley University. He was proud to have served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War from August 22, 1950 to his honorable discharge on July 2, 1954, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. Tony and Maryon Herfel were married on May 16, 1953 at St. Victors Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on November 18, 2010. He was a member of St. Victors Church, American Legion Post #84, and Monroe Moose Lodge #754. He enjoyed playing pool, hunting, fishing, and woodworking.

 He is survived by two children, Nic (Deb) Wand of South Wayne, and Muffy (Kris) Rhyner of Elkhorn; six grandchildren, Jeremy Wand, Dani (Jon) Curran, Blake Wand, Chad Rhyner, Aaron (Katie) Rhyner, Amanda (Branden) Proulx; five great-grandchildren, Haley, Isabelle, Emily, Ryan, and Macy; siblings, George Wand (deceased), Roger Wand, Leah Waelti, and Bob Wand; and a special friend, Joan Moore.

 A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at 1:00 p.m., at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church, with Monsignor Larry Bakke, Celebrant. Interment with military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe. In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund will be established in Tony’s name for a skilled trade. Condolences may be shared at www.newcomerfuneralhome.net
