Transitioned: May 8th, 2025, Cherry Valley, Illinois

A love story of 68 years between a farmer boy and a city girl has come to a sunset parting. Alice transitioned peacefully in her home with her true love by her side. Fritz, an Illinois man met Alice, an Indiana woman through both of their life-long best friends Skip and Donna Schultz. Both couples married a week apart from each other in October 1956.

They began their married life together in Hampshire, Illinois. Alice is survived

by loving husband Fritz and their 6 children, Steve, Susie (Wesley) Chapman, Greg (Beth), Daniel, Kurt (Bonnie), Matt (Julie), and daughters- in- law Brenda Ross and Sheri Stadie. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.   

She is preceded in death by her unborn 6-month-old baby, her parents, Hershall and Bernice Borton, and her four sisters, Rita (Jack) Pfeiffer, Carol (Bud) Stuckey, Margaret (Ray) Weberpal and Catherine (George) Doyle. 

Alice a devoted Catholic, worked at the Care Net Pregnancy Center of Green County, helping young women experiencing the challenges of pregnancy. She also volunteered her time as a confirmation assistant for St. Victor’s Church helping young Catholic’s preparing for the sacrament.

Services were held on Monday, May 19th in Hampshire, IL.
