BELLEVILLE — During a special board meeting on May 20, Pam Yoder, who became the Belleville District Administrator seven years ago, officially announced her intention to retire on Aug. 31.

After thanking District Administrator Yoder for her years of service to the district and the great progress the district has made under her tenure, the board moved to make current Middle School/High School Principal Nate Perry the new District Administrator. In addition, the board appointed current Middle School/High School Associate Principal Heather Schmitz as the new Middle School/High School

Principal.

In her announcement, District Administrator Yoder thanked the staff members, students, families, board members, and community members of the School District of Belleville for making the schools a special place.

“On behalf of the entire board, I want to thank District Administrator Yoder for her commitment to our students and her work to advance our district over the years,” said Trevor Johann, board president.

“Throughout her time in the School District of Belleville, she has made the success of students her top priority and the achievement of our district has increased dramatically. We wish her the best as she turns a new page in her life.”

In naming Nate Perry as district administrator and Heather Schmitz as middle school/high school principal, the board indicated its desire to continue with the work that is underway.

Perry, who joined the district in 2014, began his career in 1996 as a teacher in Grand Haven, Michigan. Prior to coming to Belleville, he served from 2009 to 2014 as an assistant principal in the DeForest Area School District. In 2001, he earned his master’s degree from Michigan State University, and in 1996, he earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin.

From 2001 to 2005, Schmitz was a middle school science and algebra teacher in the School District of Belleville. In 2017, she returned to Belleville as a middle school/high school associate principal after serving as a middle school science teacher in the Barneveld School District. In 2000, Schmitz earned her bachelor’s degree from Edgewood College and in 2003 earned her master’s degree from UW-Platteville.
