MONROE - Craig Foreback has agreed to serve as representative from District 29 on the Green County Board of Supervisors.

Foreback received two of the nine write-in votes Tuesday in the spring election.

There were no candidates on the ballot for District 29, which covers Wards 1 and 2 in New Glarus. Seven other write-in candidates received one vote each.

Former Supervisor Gary Keegan moved out of the district and resigned from the board in December.

Foreback said he's thought about running for a county board seat in the past but didn't know if he would have the time. Foreback served on the New Glarus Village Board from November 2001 to April 2005.

Since Foreback no longer is on the village board, he now has extra time to devote to the county board, he said, and he looks forward to it.

"I want to see how the county works" and see how it plans for the future, he said.

Foreback said he's interested in tourism, recreation, public safety and environmental issues. He's also interested in health care.

Foreback is a teacher at the University of Wisconsin Medical School. He's also interested to see if municipalities can share services.

Foreback and his wife Linda have two children and three grandchildren.

He takes office April 15 at the Green County Board meeting.
