MONROE - The Wisconsin Regional Arts Program Competition and Exhibit (WRAP), which is currently on exhibit in Monroe Art Center Frehner Art Gallery, will end Saturday with an artist workshop.

This annual competition and exhibit is held in various regions of Wisconsin throughout the year and is open to all area non-professional artists over the age of 18. Media such as oil, acrylic, pastel, watercolor and mixed media painting, photography, and three-dimensional artwork is included in the Monroe exhibit. This is the 23rd consecutive year the Monroe Arts Center has hosted this event.

The exhibit, which concludes with artist workshop, will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The workshop is open to the pubic. Individuals, who are not a part of the exhibit but would like to participate in the workshop, may do so for $5. Reservations to attend the workshop are not required.

The workshop will feature local watercolor artist, Kathleen D'Angelo. At 10 a.m., D'Angelo will lead a morning session for watercolor painting techniques and announce both the state and honorable-mention winners.

The afternoon portion of the workshop will conclude with an educational critique of competition work. The competition included 40 pieces of art submitted by 22 local artists.

This event is sponsored by the Monroe Arts Center and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Department of Liberal Studies and the Arts. The state award winners from all 2010 WRAP competitions in Wisconsin will be on display at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in September.
