MONROE - The Green County Highway Department is seeking to hear from residents in advance of two bridge replacement projects in northeastern and southeastern areas of the county, according to a highway department statement.

The department is planning to replace the bridge on County D over Sugar River, northeast of Monticello, and the bridge on County K over Richland Creek, southeast of Monroe, the statement said.

Both projects are scheduled to begin in 2011.

To help gather reaction and questions from the public, the highway department will hold an informational meeting from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Jan. 18, at the highway department office, 2813 6th St., Monroe.

Representatives of the engineering firm overseeing the bridge projects, MSA Professional Services, will attend the meeting to answer questions and explain details.

The department is also asking individuals with knowledge of historic sites or archaeological information around the construction zones to attend the meeting or contact MSA Professional Services, the statement said.

Questions regarding the meeting should be made to Mike Statz, MSA Professional Services, (800) 446-0689.
