TOWN OF YORK - A Monticello woman was jailed following a rollover crash in which she sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
According to a Green County Sheriff news release:
At about 1:30 a.m. Monday, March 31, Megan Leigh Norton, 21, was eastbound on Postville Road east of County A when she lost control of her vehicle while negotiating a downhill curve covered in loose gravel. Her vehicle fishtailed counter clockwise. Norton attempted to correct, and the vehicle fishtailed in the other direction as it entered the north ditch in the N7300 block of Postville Road. The vehicle continued to spin and slid sideways across the road towards the south ditch, and the rims dug into the pavement. The driver's side quarter panel slammed into an embankment and into the south ditch, rolling the vehicle onto its roof. The vehicle then spun clockwise and slid down the hill onto the pavement, where it came to rest upside down, facing northwest on the roadway. The vehicle sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene.
Norton allegedly fled the scene of the crash prior to deputies' arrival. She was later located and arrested for misdemeanor bail jumping for violating conditions of bond that she not drive without a valid driver's license. She was also cited for driving while revoked, driving too fast for conditions, no vehicle insurance, non-registration of a vehicle and failure to wear a seatbelt. Norton reported not wearing her seatbelt and was sent for treatment to Monroe Clinic hospital after deputies located her.
Norton was convicted of driving drunk Jan. 6; driving while suspended on Oct. 28, 2013 and May 20; driving without insurance in October 2012; and several speeding violations. Norton was jailed pending court.
