MADISON — The Department of Workforce Development (DWD) released on July 21 the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) preliminary employment estimates for the month of June 2022. Wisconsin’s unemployment rate remained at 2.9% in June. The state added 45,100 total nonfarm jobs and 44,900 private-sector jobs over the year from June 2021 through June 2022.
" Place of Residence Data: Wisconsin's labor force par ticipation rate was 66.4% in June, 4.2% higher than the national rate of 62.2% in June. Wisconsin’s unemployment rate in June was 2.9%, near historic lows.
" Place of Work Data: Wisconsin total nonfarm jobs increased by 45,100 jobs and private-sector jobs increased by 44,900 from June 2021 through June 2022. Over the month, total nonfarm jobs decreased by 1,800 and private- sector jobs decreased by 1,700 jobs. “Wisconsin’s unemployment rate continues to be lower than the national unemployment rate of 3.6%, showing
that Wisconsin’s economy continues to be strong despite numerous outside pressures such as the conflict in Eastern Europe and continued supply chain challenges,” DWD Secretarydesignee Amy Pechacek said. “For those still seeking a job or looking for a better job, employers are ready, willing, and able to hire skilled talent.
