MONROE — Six ramps will be closed as work begins on Wisconsin 11 for the first time in decades on Monday.
The complete restructuring of over 5 miles of the highway between Wis. 81 and Hiltbrand Lane will include work on ramps at the intersection of Wis. 81, 69 and 59.
Plans for the first week include the closure of County KK and Richland Road. Workers plan to also close the southern ramps at the Wis. 81/69 overpass, which means those traveling eastbound on Wis. 11 will not be able to exit onto Wis. 69 and head south into the city past Blackhawk Technical College’s Monroe campus. Drivers traveling northbound along the same highway will not be able to enter Wis. 11 either.
Detours for the two ramps will be directed to County N and 6th Avenue West.
At the intersection of Wis. 11 and 59, all ramps on both the north and south sides of the highway will be closed. Detours will be directed to 18th Avenue and County DR. Plans indicate the ramps will be closed until an unknown date in June.
The full project is expected to last until fall.
