WIOTA - A rollover along Porter Road near County D caused a power outage for the surrounding area Friday evening, according to technicians from Scenic Rivers Energy.

The vehicle rolled over and smashed into a substation, which resulted in light outages throughout Wiota, South Wayne and Gratiot. 

Unconfirmed accounts indicated a main transformer was out and the outage extended all the way to Darlington.

Power was restored to the area around 8 p.m. Friday.
