Warning sirens to be tested in Brodhead

BRODHEAD - The City of Brodhead will perform maintenance and testing on its emergency warning sirens on Tuesday, March 17. As part of the testing, the tornado, fire and civil defense sirens will be activated, possibly multiple times during the day. There also is a possibility the testing could extend to Thursday or Friday.

Emergency service workers carrying pagers will be notified of any tests prior to activating sirens.

The maintenance and testing is aimed at reassigning the radio frequencies used to page or activate civil defense sirens to frequencies considered less cluttered.

Ultimately that provides for continued optimum performance of the communities disaster preparedness and civil defense efforts in the future, said Brodhead Police Chief Tom Moczynski.
