MONROE - Green County voters continued extra support for the county-run Pleasant View Nursing Home, passing a referendum 3-1 in the primary election Tuesday.

The final vote tally was 3,177 to 1,082.

The additional $790,000 levied annually for the next five years, from 2015 to 2019, will help pay operational expenses. The added revenue will help offset the loss from Medicaid payments.

If the nursing home uses the full $790,000 of additional funds in a year, the owner of property valued at $100,000 will pay about $31 more in county taxes. Property valued at $150,000 would have a county tax increase to $46.50, and property worth $200,000 would be taxed $62 more.

There are about 180 employees at the home with 130 beds in the facility, which serves about 250 people per year. The home provides multiple forms of rehabilitation therapy, diabetic care, dementia/Alzheimer's care and general caregiver support.

Green County voters approved a five-year referendum for $890,000 annually for the nursing home in 2009 by the same margin. That referendum expires this year.
