MONROE - The University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health recently honored two Monroe Clinic physicians as "faculty of the year" for their commitment to teaching medical students.
Robert Cates, MD, and Lara Salyer, DO, family physicians at Monroe Clinic-Brodhead, were chosen from a field of 400 community preceptors who work with UW School of Medicine and Public Health as the recipients for the family practice faculty award.
This year marks Cates' 25th year of caring for Brodhead families. In addition to seeing more than 150,000 patients, he has worked closely with medical students over the years to share his experience and wisdom.
Salyer joined Cates seven years ago in Brodhead in both caring for patients and working with medical students. With the recent introduction of Monroe Clinic's residency program, they are expanding their roles as teachers and mentors.
