DODGEVILLE - Uplands Cheese Company, 5023 Wisconsin 23, took home its third American Cheese Society Best in Show award last week in Seattle, according to a press release from Gov. Jim Doyle's office Monday.
The cheese producer won the award for its extra aged Pleasant Ridge Reserve. Several other Wisconsin cheesemakers also won awards at the 26th edition of the national competition.
Uplands also won the award in 2001 and 2005, according to the company's website.
The winning cheese is an artisan farmstead cheese made from the milk of grass-fed cows, the website said. The cheese is only made during the summer months.
Pleasant Ridge Reserve also won the 2003 U.S. Champion Cheese award in the U.S. Cheese Championships.
