MONROE - Running unopposed, three Green County candidates probably had the most carefree night of anyone waiting for election returns.

Green County Chief Deputy Jeff Skatrud, Green County Clerk of Courts Carol Thompson and Green County Deputy Coroner Kristen Hasse ran unopposed in Tuesday's election.

Skatrud has been with the Green County Sheriff's Department since 1981, working as a patrol sergeant, drug detective, lieutenant and the county's first DARE officer.

He will take over for Randy Roderick, who announced in April that he wouldn't seek another term.

Thompson, who has been clerk of courts since 2000, has worked in Green County's judicial system since 1986.

Hasse has worked in the coroner's office for 13 years - the last 11 as chief deputy coroner.

Green County Coroner Jan Perry decided not to seek another term.

Skatrud received 9,920 votes, or about 99 percent of votes cast. There were 136 write-in votes.

Thompson received 10,014 votes, or about 99 percent of votes cast. There were 57 write-in votes.

Hasse received 9,963 votes, or about 99 percent of votes cast. There were 72 write-in votes.
