MONROE - Two Belleville teens have been charged in connection to three business break-ins that took place in New Glarus in April.

Erik Ellenberger, 18, and Trey Hamilton, 17, are scheduled to make their initial appearances Nov. 17 in Green County Circuit Court, according to a news release issued Friday by Green County District Attorney Gary Luhman.

Ellenberger and Hamilton are charged with three counts of burglary, all class F felonies, theft, a class G felony, and three counts of theft and two counts of criminal damage to property, all class A misdemeanors. They face more than more than 50 years in prison and up to $150,000 in fines.

A third suspect in the case, who was under the age of 17, also was named in the burglaries. Luhman's office hasn't decided how it will charge the juvenile. Luhman was out of the office Friday and couldn't be reached for comment.

Luhman said the burglaries were investigated by the Green County Sheriff's Department and the New Glarus Police Department. The two departments, along with the district attorney's office, learned in July that a burglary in Stoughton might be connected with the burglaries in New Glarus. Hamilton already has been charged in Dane County Circuit Court in connection to the Stoughton robbery. He is charged with burglary, a class F felony, and possession of tools to commit burglary, a class I felony. He faces up to 16 years in prison and up to $35,000 in fines for those charges.

All three allegedly committed burglaries, thefts and criminal damage to Hoesly's Meats, Stampfli Automotive and Wrecker Service and New Glarus Power Service.

According to police reports, windows were broken to gain access to the buildings. Money and equipment were taken, but police wouldn't elaborate on what specifically was taken.

Luhman said the case remains under investigation and more people could be charged.
