TOWN OF EXETER - A Belleville man was airlifted by React Helicopter for injuries after a one-vehicle accident early Sunday morning in the Town of Exeter.

According to a Green County Sheriff's Office news release, John E. Vetterli, 57, New Glarus, and Dylan Ray Schulz, 22, Belleville, were eastbound on Kubly Road when the vehicle ran head-on into an embankment.

Vetterli, the driver, was transported to UW Hospital via New Glarus EMS for treatment of his injuries; he was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt. His passenger, Schulz, was transported via helicopter to UW Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. He was also not wearing a seatbelt.

Vetterli was later arrested for causing injury while driving drunk and cited for driving too fast for conditions and failure to wear a seatbelt. Vetterli was released pending court. The 1967 Chevrolet Camaro he was driving sustained severe front-end damage and was towed to the sheriff's office impound.

Deputies, New Glarus police and the New Glarus Fire Department assisted at the scene.
