MONROE — A woman and 9-year-old boy were injured in a car vs. semi crash Tuesday on Wisconsin 69 near Monticello, according to the Green County Sheriff’s Office.
The accident was reported at 1:13 p.m. in the N6400 block of Wis. 69, Town of Mount Pleasant. Deputies responded with the Monticello Police and Fire Departments and New Glarus EMS.
Jose R. Galvan Rodriguez, 42, Madison, was southbound when he moved toward the centerline, indicating he was going to turn left into a field drive.
The semi driver behind him, David H. Despain, 31, Cherry, Illinois, stayed to the right in anticipation of a three-lane passing area.
But Galvan Rodriguez then turned on his right turn signal and turned into Despain’s semi and the two vehicles collided.
Two passengers in the car, identified as Erika E. Gonzalez Cuevas, 37, and a 9-year-old passenger, both of Madison, were injured in the crash and taken by ambulance to the Monroe Clinic ER. The car sustained severe damage and was towed.
Despain’s semi sustained moderate front-end damage and was driven from the scene.
Galvan Rodriguez was cited for operating a motor vehicle without insurance, failure to follow an indicated turn and driving without a license causing injury to another person.
