NEW GLARUS - New Glarus police arrested two suspects for the possession of heroin on Tuesday, March 25 in Fitchburg.

Both suspects, Anthony M. Wiser, 23, Verona, and Mina A. Schneider, 18, Blanchardville, each face three charges, including manufacture/delivery of heroin as a party to a crime and possession with intent to deliver or distribute a controlled substance near a school. They are also charged with second-degree recklessly endangering safety. Wiser, who is also known as Tony Bell, faces his charges as a repeater.

The arrests partially resulted from a recent near-fatal heroin overdose in New Glarus, as well as ongoing investigations into heroin trafficking, according to New Glarus Police Chief Burt Boldebuck.

Wiser is also being held for a probation violation.

Wisconsin Department of Justice agents, Fitchburg police and the Dane County District Attorney's office assisted in the arrests.
