DARLINGTON - Two men were arrested in Argyle on June 20 for allegedly possessing drugs and giving police false information.

Matthew D. Siegel, 17, Argyle, faces a felony narcotics charge for allegedly possessing ecstasy and misdemeanor counts of obstructing an officer and possessing cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

Tyler D. Bevins, 21, Monroe, faces misdemeanor charges of obstructing an officer and possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Police records indicate they made their initial appearances in court June 23, after which they signed signature bonds: Siegel's for $2,000 and Bevins for $1,000. They are ordered to have no contact with each other or the other three men with them when they were arrested.

According to court documents, police stopped the car they were riding in for "suspicious activity" late June 19 because an officer saw it leave a private property with which he was familiar.

Police reportedly smelled marijuana and Bevins, who had provided a false name, told them he had marijuana and a pipe on him.

Police searched the car and found suspected ecstasy and cocaine, as well as a scale. Siegel reportedly told investigators the drugs and scale were his, and said he had also given a false name.

Both men told officers they lied about their names because they had warrants out for their arrest.

They were arrested and taken to jail. They both have adjourned initial appearances Monday.
