Trees available for fall terrace planting

MONROE - The City of Monroe is gearing up for its 2015 fall planting season. All trees will be planted on the terrace by the park department.

Orders will be taken through Oct. 2, and trees are to be planted the week of Oct. 19.

Trees available for planting are:



Emerald Lustre Maple

The Emerald Lustre Maple is similar to the Emerald Queen, but more vigorous and a better branching habit. There are glossy, green foliage with red tips on new growth. Foliage turns yellow fall color. The cost is $39. The tree needs light full sun. The size is 50 to 60 feet.



Deborah Maple

The Deborah Maple originated in Canada. Foliage is brilliant red in the spring and becomes dark green in the summer. The tree is a vigorous grower with a central leader. The cost is $39. The tree needs light full sun, and the size is 40 to 60 feet.



Ivory Silk Japanese Lilac

Ivory Silk Japanese Lilac is a budded tree-form and is a sturdy and compact habit. This selection will flower at an early age with white flower plumes grow 10 to 12 inches long. The tree needs to be at a well-drained site and have no high nitrogen fertilizer. The tree cost is $49. The size is 15 to 25 feet.
