MONROE - The annual Tree-Trimming Party at the Monroe Public Library's Homespun Holiday is set from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19 in the library, 925 16th Ave. Parents can stop by with children, ages 3 and up.
There is no charge for the Tree-Trimming Party and people of all abilities are welcome.
The ornament-making workshop will feature Snowball the Sheep, Grandma's Heart, Gingerbread Friends, Twizzly Stars, Frosty I Spy, and Homespun Poppers. The crafts are appropriate for ages 3 to 8. After creating an ornament for the library's tree, children are encouraged to make a few to take home.
"Ornaments from past years have become treasures that trim family trees for years to come," said Kris Ault, youth services coordinator. "We look forward to meeting the new families who join us each year and hope that tradition continues."
The day's activities will include special holiday storytimes presented by Ault at 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. The newest holiday books will be available to check out during the program.
Children are welcome to stop by the Cookie Corner for cookies and punch during the party. Staff members are asking for 50 dozen cookies to serve the little crafters. Community bakers may drop off their plain or decorated treats at the library during business hours on Friday, Nov. 18, or after 9 a.m. on Saturday morning.
