MONROE - Wisconsin voters will decide today which candidates will advance to the Tuesday, June 5 recall election for governor.
Unlike most primary elections in Wisconsin, voters will be able to switch parties between races. That means a person could vote for a Republican in the governor's race and a Democrat in the lieutenant governor's race, or vice versa. Voters are not allowed to vote for more than one candidate in the same race, such as voting for one Republican and one Democrat for governor.
Usually, voters in Wisconsin can only vote in one party's primary and are not allowed to switch parties between races.
The exception in today's primary is because each race - governor, lt. governor and in some areas, state senate seats - are each considered a separate primary, according to the Government Accountability Board.
Polls are open until 8 p.m.
