MONROE - Tickets are now available for the 2008 Festival of Trees.
The popular event, presented by the Monroe Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is in its 14th year and is returning after a one-year hiatus in 2007. It is planned for Dec. 6 at Peppercorn Banquets, 1421 Mansion Drive.
Festival of Trees will start with a social hour and cash bar at 6 p.m., followed by a short program. A dinner, beginning at 7 p.m., will feature petite beef tenderloins in mushroom sauce and boneless grilled chicken breast in rosemary garlic sauce.
The highlight of the evening comes at 8:30 p.m., when Christmas trees designed and decorated by local artisans are auctioned. There will also be a silent auction of special items throughout the evening. Proceeds from the evening benefit local non-profit organizations. This year, those organizations are the Green County Humane Society, Green Haven Family Advocates and Habitat of Humanity.
The event is open to the public. Business owners are also encouraged to use the Festival of Trees as their Christmas party for employees.
Tickets cost $30 and are available at das Baumhaus, the Monroe Chamber office, Ruf's Confectionery and Charles Dearth Motors. Tables of 8 are also available. Registration deadline is Dec. 1.
More information is available by calling the Chamber office at 325-7648. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily.
