MONROE — The gate code is changing at the Monroe Dog Park and the city clerk’s office is reminding everyone that it’s time to renew licenses. 

To have a license renewed is $30 for the first dog and $5 for each additional dog. Licenses are good for one calendar year, Jan. 1 to Dec. 31. A city dog license is required to obtain a dog park license. 

All dogs must have a current rabies vaccination in order to obtain a dog license. The receipt from the veterinarian is required. Licenses will not be issued without proof of the vaccination. 

Licenses can be obtained at the treasurer’s office year-round and are based on the calendar year. New tags can be purchased in December for the following year. Landlords should notify tenants they are required to license their pets.
