Three injured in hit-and-run accident

TOWN OF MONROE - Three young children sustained non-life-threatening injuries following a hit-and-run accident on Wisconsin 69 in the Town of Monroe Sunday.

Derek J. Carpenter, 35, Monroe, was southbound on Wis. 69 when a deer ran into the roadway and hit his van. As Carpenter was pulling onto the shoulder, a southbound vehicle hit the rear of Carpenter's van. The vehicle then fled the scene. The three children were transported by EMS for treatment of their injuries.

The van sustained moderate front-end damage and minor rear-end damage. The investigation continues.
