MONROE - Three Monroe residents were arrested Wednesday after an investigation into a marijuana growing operation on Pine Tree Road, Town of Monroe.
Michael J. Scott, 46; Jolene R. Smith, 55; and Jeffrey L. Smith, 56, were arrested after Green County Sheriff's deputies and drug enforcement agents executed two search warrants at their residences, both on Pine Tree Road.
At Scott's residence, officers seized 55 pounds of processed marijuana, 30 marijuana plants, 22 firearms and $20,000 in cash, along with paraphernalia for the production and sale of marijuana. The Smiths' residence revealed 57 grams of marijuana and equipment for distributing marijuana.
Scott was charged with manufacture of marijuana, possession with intent to deliver marijuana, maintaining a drug dwelling and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Jolene Smith was charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana, maintaining a drug dwelling, delivery of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Jeffrey Smith was also charged with maintaining a drug dwelling and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Each offender was released on bond. Scott will appear in court for his preliminary hearing on May 25, while the Smiths will appear for their initial appearances on May 2.
