MONROE - "Stormy," "Traces of Love," "Spooky" and "Every Day with You Girl" are some of the hits to be heard when The Classics IV appear live in concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Monroe High School Performing Arts Center, 1600 26th St.

Originally formed in 1965 by singer and drummer Dennis Yost, the band, then known as The Classics, was discovered performing in Daytona Beach, Florida. Shortly thereafter, they signed a singles deal with Capitol Records. At that time, Capitol already had a recording act named the Classics. In an effort to differentiate themselves, Yost added "IV" to the name because there were at that time four members of the group.

In 1993, The Classics IV, featuring Dennis Yost, who was known for the "tear in his voice," were inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. Over the years, they have garnered 16 Billboard chart hits, 13 albums and are credited with establishing the "soft southern rock" sound.

In 2007, after experiencing an accident, Dennis Yost hand-picked vocalist Tom Garrett to replace him as lead singer for the group and to keep The Classics IV music going in The Classics IV tradition. In addition, Garrett and Yost worked closely together to develop the band for the group.

The Classics IV continue to perform in venues worldwide. The group will perform their greatest hits and the best music of the era, blending the old with the new.
