On another note, Gene Ellingson stopped into the office Monday with pictures of a blooming cactus.

Big deal, you may say.

The cactus belonged to Gene's mother. She got it in 1928. For 70 years, it never bloomed. Gene's mother kept it inside.

When Gene got it, he put the cactus outside in the summer. For the first time, it bloomed. Now, it blooms for one day every summer.

Gene has given "babies" of the cactus to his five children and at least four grandchildren. They all now have blooming cacti.
