ALBANY - A 14-year-old Albany boy was cited for multiple traffic violations and charged with a felony count of knowingly fleeing an officer after he crashed a vehicle early Friday morning, June 8.

Green County Sheriff's deputies report trying to stop the teen for a traffic violation at 12:32 a.m. on Wisconsin 59 east of Peebles Road in the Town of Albany.

Instead of stopping, the boy allegedly sped up and started to drive in the oncoming lane of traffic, ignored a stop sign in Albany and then continued south onto County E, again driving in the wrong lane.

He then lost control of the vehicle on a curve and crashed into a tree in a yard in the W1300 block of County E, according to a news release from the sheriff's department.

He was transported to Monroe Clinic ER for minor injuries sustained in the crash. The vehicle was severely damaged and towed from the scene.

Deputies issued citations for unlawful possession of tobacco by a juvenile, driving without a valid license, using no taillights at night, failure to keep vehicle under control, failure to stop at a stop sign and operating left of center.

The boy, whose name is being withheld due to his age, will be referred to juvenile intake for a felony charge of knowingly fleeing an officer.
