MONROE - In addition to the five-course, Swiss-influenced dinner created by Chef Mike Nevil of Chalet Landhaus, New Glarus, the Monroe Arts Center's "A Taste of Spring" fundraising event will also include a fine art live auction, a silent auction and live musical entertainment. The event will be held on Monday, May 5 at the Ludlow Mansion.

The live auction will feature original oil and acrylic paintings, metal sculptures, and photographic prints by artists Jonathan Wilde, Deborah Meyer, Massimo Rinversi, Nana Schowalter, Bob Bergman and Tina Duemler. The live auction includes: a two-night condominium stay at Northern Bay Resort located on the shores of Castle Rock Lake; two hours of live music for any event by the Minucci-Calvagna Duo; a seven-night retreat for two at Jardin La Torre in San Ramon de Alajuela, Costa Rica; and a Cheese Days 100th Anniversary "Wine, Beer, and Cheese Kick-Off Patio Party" for eight overlooking the Historic Green County Courthouse. Doug Munda of Munda Auctions, Freeport, will be the guest auctioneer.

The Rand Moore Jazz Trio, of Madison, will provide live entertainment with their takes on familiar jazz tunes. Drummer and leader, Rand Moore, also leads the Madison Mellophonium Jazz Orchestra, the Rand Moore Jazz Quartet, and is the drummer for the Madison Jazz Orchestra. Pianist Paul Meunch has been a musician in Madison jazz and salsa groups since 1981, when he played with the Madison Area Technical College and UW big bands. Rounding out the trio is upright bass player, John Schaffer, who is the director of the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Music, a classical guitarist, music theorist, recording engineer, and jazz bassist, who appears regularly with jazz players in this region. Moore, Meunch and Schaffer are beginning their fifth year of bi-weekly Friday nights as part of the Rand Moore Jazz Quartet at Liliana's Restaurant, Fitchburg.
