ALBANY - An Albany man was arrested for disorderly conduct and endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon at about 12:15 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of Summitt Street.

Dwayne P. Helmer, 40, was armed with a hammer and a knife when Green County Sheriff's Department deputies responded to his home, according to Randy Roderick, Green County Sheriff. Deputies had received a report that Helmer was displaying a weapon.

He was jailed pending court.

At the time of the incident, online court records show, Helmer was on a $4,000 signature bond for child abuse, a class H felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, an unclassified misdemeanor.

Helmer faces more than six years in prison and more than $10,000 in that case, if convicted.
