MONROE - High school students from St. John's United Church of Christ will travel to Wind River, Wyo. on Saturday, June 8 for a week-long work trip.
The 11 students and their leaders will travel to Wyoming in two 15-passenger vans. Once they arrive in Wind River, they will join up with youth from other states for the week which emphasizes mission work and service. During their stay, the students will paint homes for residents of the area, make home repairs, assist in a kids' club/day camp and volunteer at local senior homes.
Making the trip will include students Carter Adkins, Ramsey Benkert, Amanda Braden, Eric Bush, Allison Crubaugh, Dan Hauck, Casey Kehoe, Allison Leutenegger, Ben Prophett, Danielle Schneider and Ryan Stoneback. Trip leader Alison Phillips, as well as Jasmine Leopold, John Kehoe and Erik Beach, will accompany the students.
The group will also travel on side trips that are planned on their way to and from Wyoming. Stops include the Badlands National Park, Mt. Rushmore and Wall Drug Store. A whitewater rafting trip is also planned.
The group will return to Monroe late on Saturday, June 15.
