All vehicles were unlocked at the time of the thefts.

There were reports of burglaries north of New Glarus, Sturdevant said, and he knew at least of two or three reports. The burglaries in the rural areas were reported to the Green County Sheriff's Department because the reports were out of the New Glarus jurisdiction.

The incidents include:

n Officers took a report at 4:19 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of 1st Street of an Illinois I-Pass stolen from a vehicle.

The incidents remain under investigation.

New Glarus police advised residents to lock doors when leaving home and lock car doors when leaving a vehicle unattended; not to leave valuable items exposed to would-be thieves; and to place bicycles and other property inside a garage, or other location where they are not seen.

Any suspicious activity should be reported immediately, police said.

Anyone with information on the vehicle thefts is encouraged to contact the New Glarus Police Department at (608) 527-2145.
