FREEPORT — During the St. Patrick’s Day enforcement period, the Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office issued two citations for no seatbelt, five citations for child restraint violations, one arrest for no valid driver’s license, one arrest for driving while license suspended, four arrests for outstanding warrants, one arrest for obstructing identification, two citations for operating uninsured vehicle and two citations for equipment violations.

“By keeping unsafe drivers off the roads and ensuring that motorists and passengers are buckled up, we’re able to help make the roads a safer place for everyone,” said Stephenson County Sheriff David Snyders.

The Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office joined forces with highway safety partners and both state and local law enforcement in the St. Patrick’s Day enforcement campaign.

The traffic safety effort was funded by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation as part of the statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns.
